2 jailed in domestic fight, fork stabbing

Two people were jailed Monday after a domestic alteration, during which a woman stabbed a man with a fork, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Brandon D. Poole, 27, of Little Flower Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Monday for simple battery (domestic) and criminal damage to property.
—Dametra Boatman, 29, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. Monday for aggravated battery (domestic).
Officers were dispatched to a Mallard Street residence in Brownell Homes regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Boatman and Poole had been involved in a domestic altercation which turned physical, Banks said.
During the disturbance, Poole was accused of committing a battery on Boatman and destroying personal property belonging to Boatman, Banks said. Boatman was accused of arming herself with a fork and stabbing Poole in the arm area causing minor injuries during the altercation, Banks said. Both were jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Carlos Ruiz-Santos, 38, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:58 p.m. Sunday for simple battery.
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a Fifth Street residence. Officers located a victim who advised that he was struck by Ruiz-Santos.
The victim, who had physical injuries from the altercation, did not require medical treatment, Banks said. Ruiz-Santos was located at the scene and jailed.
—Trevor J. Alcina, 23, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:27 a.m. Monday for bank fraud and forgery.
A complaint was filed with an officer regarding a forgery. Investigators learned that Trevor Alcina had forged the complainants name to three personal checks and had cashed the checks receiving about $700. Officers located Alcina at his Chennault Street residence where he was detained for questioning. Alcina was jailed.
—Kristen J. Coleman, 26, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:47 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for careless operation with an accident, child passenger restraint violation and seat belt violation.
An officer observed an operator of a vehicle traveling on La. 182 without using a seatbelt.
The officer stopped the vehicle to speak with the driver and discovered that a child was not properly restrained in a child restraint system. The officer identified the driver, Coleman, and learned she was wanted on a warrant. Coleman was jailed.
—Deshawn Moore, 18, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:49 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for possession of marijuana.
An officer observed a speeding vehicle in the area of La. 182 and Aycock Street and stopped the vehicle for investigation. Officers learned that an occupant of the vehicle, Moore, was wanted on a warrant. Moore was jailed.
—Leonard Yarborough, 52, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Monday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers were dispatched to the area of the La. 182 bridge in regard to an intoxicated person. Officers found Yarborough in an impaired condition on the bridge. He was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints in the parish and reported no arrests in east St. Mary Parish.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
