A Morgan City man was jailed after he was involved in a fist fight Tuesday night and armed himself with knives and a large stick, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—William F. Davis, 53, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:47 p.m. Tuesday for aggravated battery and engaging in a fistic encounter.
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a La. 182 apartment complex. Officers learned that two people, one identified as Davis, were involved in a fist fight, which led to both people arming themselves with knives and a large stick, Banks said.
Officers said Davis armed himself with a stick and struck another person, causing injuries requiring medical treatment. Davis was jailed. The identity of the second person involved is being withheld pending a complete investigation and possible arrest, Banks said. That person was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries.
Banks also reported the following arrests:
—Corey Rogers, 37, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:46 p.m. Tuesday for two counts of simple battery and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a Bush Street residence regarding a disturbance. Officers learned that Rogers had committed a battery on two other people inside the residence. Rogers was taken to the police department. While there, Rogers became combative with officers and had to be physically restrained, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Myron Hatch, 41, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. Tuesday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers investigating a domestic complaint responded to a residence located on Glenwood Street in Morgan City. While there, officers encountered a subject identified as Hatch who was observed attempting to conceal an object. Hatch was detained for officers’ safety. The item was recovered and discovered to be a pipe used to consume illegal narcotics, Banks stated. Hatch was jailed.
—Marjorie Ruffin, 24, of Franklin, was arrested at 10:02 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for attempted possession of marijuana and on a warrant for contempt of court. Ruffin was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Barbara A. Guillot, 55, of the 100 block of Derrick Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with store personnel and learned that Guillot was seen attempting to leave the store without paying for items she had taken. Guillot was released on a summons to appear in court on Aug. 22.
—Garrett Oubre, 41, of the 1100 block of Stephensville Road in Stephensville, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. Tuesday for possession of Schedule II Roxicodone. Narcotics detectives conducting a traffic stop in the Patterson area made contact with a passenger in the vehicle identified as Oubre. Detectives received consent to search Oubre and located four Roxicodone pills, Hebert stated. Oubre was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
