St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 50 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Veyonca Salazar, 49, of the 100 block of Lagonda Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:16 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Lagonda Lane.
The deputy made contact with Salazar and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her, Hebert said. The deputy learned that Salazar came out of her residence and was yelling and cursing at a neighbor. The deputy advised Salazar to go inside her residence for the evening. Salazar stated that she would comply, Hebert said. Shortly after the deputy departed, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a second complaint of a disturbance on Lagonda Lane.
Salazar repeatedly yelled racial slurs and cursed at the neighbor and the deputy, Hebert said. While being placed under arrest, Salazar attempted to slam the door of her residence closed in an attempt to keep the deputy out, Hebert said. Salazar was jailed. Salazar’s bail is set at $1,500.
—Ryan Stratton, 18, of the 300 block of La. 182 in Patterson, was arrested at 4:04 p.m. Friday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives conducted a search warrant at the address in the 300 block of La. 182 in Patterson and located several plastic bags containing marijuana, a pipe, and a grinder. During the investigation, Stratton admitted to narcotics detectives that he intended to sell the marijuana, Hebert said. Stratton was jailed with bail set at $11,500.
