2 arrested after call to deputies to buy synthetic pot
A 39-year-old Bayou Vista man and 21-year-old Bayou Vista woman were arrested Wednesday after the man called narcotics detectives attempting to purchase synthetic marijuana, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Purcell Gros, 39, of the 100 block of Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday for attempted possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
—Ashlyn Gros, 21, of the 100 block of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misuse of toxic vapors.
Narcotics detectives received a phone call from Purcell Gros stating that he wanted to purchase synthetic marijuana, the news release said. Purcell Gros was unaware that he was contacting narcotics detectives, Hebert said. Detectives negotiated the purchase and agreed to meet at a specific location for the transaction.
Detectives made contact with Ashlyn Gros and Purcell Gros on Two Sisters Court. After receiving consent to search Ashlyn Gros and her vehicle, detectives located a pack of synthetic cannabinoids and rolling papers, Hebert said. Purcell Gros admitted to agreeing to meet with detectives with the intent to purchase the synthetic marijuana, Hebert said. Both were released on summonses to appear in court May 22.
