Competition was fierce at the volleyball jamboree

A big crowd turned out for Thursday’s volleyball jamboree at Morgan City High School.
Each team in St. Mary Parish other than Centerville took part with Central Catholic going undefeated in its three varsity games.
Morgan City also played well going 2-1 with its lone loss coming against the Lady Eagles, 25-9.
Central Catholic started the jamboree off with a 25-10 win over Berwick and went on to win against the Lady Tigers in the second game.
In the last game of the night CCHS took on Franklin and came away with a 25-17 win.
Morgan City won its second game of the night, 25-19, against Patterson and finished the jamboree with a 25-16 win over Berwick.
Patterson’s Lumberjill got off to a good start with a 25-15 win over West St. Mary and in the second game the ‘Jill beat district rival Franklin in a closely contested game, 25-18. The only loss for PHS came against jamboree hosts Morgan City by six points.
Franklin picked up a win, 25-21, against West St. Mary but lost the last game of the night against CCHS by eight points.
The Lady Panthers lost its first two games against MCHS and CCHS but bounced back to beat West St. Mary, 25-17, in its last game to end the jamboree on a positive note.
On Saturday the jamboree will continue with the freshmen teams hitting the court starting with Berwick vs. Morgan City at 8 a.m., Berwick vs. Franklin at 9 a.m., and Franklin vs. Morgan City at 10 a.m.
In junior varsity action Thursday, Central Catholic defeated Berwick, 25-17; MC defeated CCHS, 25-16; MC defeated PHS, 25-21; WSM defeated PHS, 25-12; MC defeated BHS, 25-22; PHS defeated FHS, 25-18; WSM defeated FHS, 25-14; BHS defeated WSM, 25-22 and CC defeated FHS, 25-11.
