Cqulin Hubert earns All-America honors
Southeastern Louisiana senior linebacker Cqulin Hubert was named to the American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision Coaches’ All-America Team.
Hubert, a Houston native, earned his second All-America nod of the season. The leader of the Lion defense is the first Southeastern player to earn AFCA All-America honors since Southeastern Hall of Famer Willie Sheppard in 1985.
Hubert already has been named to the Sports Network All-America squad this season as a third team selection. The Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Southland choice was the leader of a Southeastern defense that allowed a league-low 22.7 points and 386 yards per game.
Hubert finished the season with a team-high 90 tackles and two blocked kicks.
In his second season with the Lions after transferring from Texas Tech, he also finished with 11 tackles for loss, four sacks and an interception.
Hubert was the only Southland Conference player selected.
