I am Drue C. Clement and am announcing my candidacy for councilman in District 1.
I was born and raised in Morgan City, the son of the late E.R. “Charlie” Clement and Myrtle Clement. I am married to Regina “Jeanie” Hymel Clement, the parent of Mrs. Trent Bigler (Dainell), and grandparent of Brock, Taylor and Quinn.
I am a graduate of Morgan City High School, attended UL Lafayette and LSU Baton Rouge.
I joined the City of Morgan City Fire Department as a firefighter and retired after 30 years’ service as fire prevention chief. After retirement I worked for a local lab as a certified drug screen collector in-house and on-site for local businesses.
I am a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, lifetime member of the MCVFD, and served on the Morgan City Fire and Police Civil Service Board. I am a past board member of St. Mary AARP and drivers’ instructor for AARP Defensive Drivers Training (55 Alive classes).
I served on the Morgan City Federal Credit Union as a board member on the Finance Committee.
I have been serving on the city’s Hospitalization Insurance Committee for the past 11 years.
I am a small business owner of Clement Trailer Park Co., owner of ACE Inc. and Bayou Black Rental Properties.
I have served the City of Morgan City under four different administrations and given the opportunity would like to serve the next administration.
I promise to work for the citizens of Morgan City to the best of my ability as I have in the past. I have no obligation but to serve the citizens as a “full time councilman” for District 1. Please vote on Nov. 6 and keep me in consideration.
