Clara Mae Pellerin was born to the late Alvin and Helen Vining on May 22, 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Verdunville.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Bernard Pellerin. She is also survived by her brother, Olan C. Vining and his wife, Victoria, of Franklin; her sons, Craig and his wife, Rebecca, of Franklin; Kenny and his wife, Shelia, of Centerville; Todd and his wife, Lori, of Verdunville; and Corey and his wife, Tracey, of Youngsville; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Alvin and Helen, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Bradley and Vernon Pellerin.

She was employed with St. Mary Community Action agency for 33 years where she was a teacher and coordinator. She committed herself to developing self-esteem and character in thousands of pre-school students throughout the parish.

Clara was a devout Catholic by faith, and a true servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. A true inspiration to all by her acts of kindness and selflessness. Clara received a Martin Luther King Jr. Award from the Office for Black Catholic Ministries, along with the Diocese of Lafayette for her outstanding service to her church and community. She fully dedicated her life to her family, community and church. She is loved and will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Service will be held Friday, January 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville, with a burial following at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in Verdunville.
