Chamber sets three candidates’ forums

The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce and Franklin Republican Women will co-host three “Meet the Candidates Breakfasts” for parishwide candidates.

There will be a series of forums that will feature candidates for sheriff, senator, parish council and parish president.

The first forum of the series will be with sheriff’s candidates on Sept. 20 at the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild in Patterson.

The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 9:30 a.m. Sponsors for the event are AT&T and St. Mary Seafood. Tickets are $10 per person.

The second breakfast will be the senatorial forum. It will be held on Sept. 27 at the Petroleum Club in Morgan City from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Sponsors for the event are AT&T and Franklin Republican Women. Tickets are $10 per person.

The final breakfast will be the parish president and council forum on Oct. 4 at the Atchafalaya Golf Course at Idlewild in Patterson. Candidates for parish president as well as parish council candidates will be featured. Sponsors are AT&T and Wilburn Car Care Center. The breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for this forum are $10 per person.

“These forums help us to learn how the candidates view important issues that affect our parish,” Chamber Executive Director Donna Meyer said. “This is an opportunity for those seeking office to address residents and to discuss the challenges facing our parish.”
