Central Lafourche edges FSHS Hornets
MATTHEWS _ The Franklin Senior High School Hornets came up on the short end of a 17-15 season-opening loss to the Central LaFourche Trojans here Friday.
Central LaFourche’s Brader Dufrene connected on a 35-yard field goal at the 6:47 mark of the final quarter to give the Trojans the 17-15 win.
Da’Quan Gray scored on a six-yard run as CLHS gained a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
Franklin answered with a 15-yard touchdown from Jarion Brown to Simieon Theodile with 3:31 remaining in the first period.
Central LaFourche padded its lead to 14-8 with a safety and a 35-yard run by Gray with 9:32 left in the third quarter.
Franklin secured a 15-14 advantage at the 6:49 mark when Brown connected with Allen Randle on a 12-yard touchdown before calling his own number for the two-point conversion.
Dufrene’s 35-yard field goal enabled Central Lafourche to pull out the 17-15 win.
On the night, Brown went 21 for 36 for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Franklin’s Brennan Robinson caught 10 passes for 179 yards.
Franklin will travel to play Westgate on Thursday night.
