Centerville man arrested for assault
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday arrested a man in connection with assaulting his mother.
James Austin, 30, of South Clausen Road, Centerville, was arrested at 6:45 a.m. on charges of aggravated battery to the infirm and second-degree battery to the infirm.
Deputies spoke to a woman who said that Austin, her son, threw hot coffee on her and he also hit a 70-year-old disabled male victim repeatedly, Sheriff Mark Hebert said. The male victim, whose relationship to the others was not provided, was transported by Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital, where doctors found several fractures.
Austin was arrested, transported to the parish jail for processing, and incarcerated with no bond yet set.
There was one other arrest by the SMSO overnight.
—Bryan P. Roy II, 24, of Cross Street, Bayou Vista, arrested at 7:39 p.m. at a business parking lot in Berwick for failure to appear on a charge of theft and a new charge for theft over $500 due to reported theft of jewelry and other items from his parents’ residence. Remains incarcerated with no bond.
The Morgan City Police Department arrested two overnight.
—Lance Ashmore, 19, of Chester Bowles Street, Morgan City, arrested Tuesday at 9:01 p.m. on warrant for failure to pay fines, no bond information available.
—Harold Wayne Clark, 31, of Bush Street, Morgan City, arrested Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. for failure to pay probation fees and probation violation, still jailed on $675 bond.
The Patterson Police Department made one arrest overnight.
—Jecory Riles, 23, of Cherry Street, Patterson, arrested Tuesday at 1:34 p.m., for possession of cocaine, still incarcerated, bond information not available.
