Centerville Bulldogs split league games

CENTERVILLE _ Pitchers Chance Landry and Payton Landry combined on a five-hitter, leading the Centerville Bulldogs to a 6-4 victory over the Holden Rockets in District 8-B Wednesday at the Centerville High School Field.

Chance Landry collected the mound victory after working 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits with nine strikeouts and five free passes. Payton Landry hurled the final 1 1/3 frames, not allowing a run while giving up one hit with one walk and two strikeouts.

Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were: Payton Landry, 2 for 4; Christian Arias, 1 for 3, RBI; Logan Broussard, 1 for 3, RBI; Cole Candella, 1 for 3 and Zacchaeus Jackson, 1 for 3, RBI.


Lafayette Christian Knights manufactured three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 4-3 District 8-B win over the Centerville Bulldogs here at Fabacher Field.

Payton Landry took the hard-luck loss for the Bulldogs. He went 6 1/3 innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on eight hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.

Leading hitters for the Bulldogs were: Juwan Thomas, 1 for 3; Christian Arias, 1 for 4 and Chance Landry, 1 for 4.

Centerville is currently in second place in District 8-B with a 3-3 league record. CHS is planning a tune-up game today at Ellender with hopes of a playoff berth in the upcoming state playoffs.
