Centerville Bulldogs drop OT loss to Fontainebleau
Thibodaux _ The Centerville Bulldogs came up on the short end of a 74-72 overtime loss to here Thursday in the E. D. White Cardinals Basketball Tournament.
Fontainebleau gained the hard-fought 74-72 victory over Centerville by outpointing the Bulldogs by a slim 8-6 margin during the extra session.
At the end of regulation, both squads played to a 66-all knot. Fontainebleau jumped out front by 14-11 first quarter lead before clinging to a 30-26 halftime cushion following a narrow 16-15 run in the second quarter. Centerville mounted its comeback with a 16-12 surge in the third quarter, knotting the game at 42-42. Centerville and Fontainebleau played to a 66-66 tie at the end of regulation. During the extra session, Fontainebleau escaped with a 74-72 win after outscoring the Bulldogs by an 8-6 margin in overtime.
Centerville is now 10-8 on the season. Fontainebleau is now 2-10. Centerville will play South Lafourche Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Jumanji Washington poured in a game-high 25 points to lead the Centerville Bulldogs in scoring. Washington fired in seven deuces, one trey and 8 of 11 freebies for his 25 points.
Jerome Williams pumped in 20 points after connecting on a trio of treys, five deuces and 1 of 5 free throws.
Rodney Harris polished off the double figure scorers CHS with 11 points on 5-2’s and 1 of 5 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs were: Courtland Pogue, 6; Zacchaeus Jackson, 5; Juwan Thomas, 4 and Cole Candella, 1.
Collin Buttoile led Fontainebleau in scoring with 19 points while Joseph Ascanti tallied 18 and Hunter Bastion 12.
Rounding out the scoring for Fontainebleau were Arore Accardo, 8; Logan Thompson, 5; Logan Forest, 6; Ryan Alfred, 4 and Brandon Lemoine, 2.
