CCVCB ‘Quest for the Golden Monkey’ clues begin today
The first Tarzan movie filmed on location was made in Morgan City.
Urban legend has it when the filming ended the apes and monkeys were said to have been left behind in the Atchafalaya swamp. In the spirit of that legend, the Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau has created the “Quest for the Golden Monkey.”
The premise is that a golden monkey has escaped and is hiding on public property somewhere in the Morgan City area.
To get everyone excited about the Tarzan, Lord of the Louisiana Jungle Festival set for April 14, citizens are asked to help locate the golden monkey. The CCVCB will release eight clues. The first clue has been released and one will be released each day thereafter through April 11.
Today’s clue is:
“John Calhoun arrived and was the first to survey the land.”
A cash reward will be presented to the one lucky person who can combine all of the eight clues to find the location of the golden monkey. The first person to find the golden monkey is asked to catch it and bring it to the Tarzan, Lord of the Louisiana Jungle Festival on April 14, at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium to receive their cash reward.
Participants can also visit the Tarzan, Lord of the Louisiana Jungle Festival’s Facebook page, or Cajun Coast’s Facebook page to receive the daily clue for the Quest for the Golden Monkey! The golden monkey was designed by artist Wendy Leaumont of Shreveport.
