CCHS to host 7-on-7 tournament
MORGAN CITY — Central Catholic will host its annual 7-on-7 football tournament Saturday at the school’s practice field.
Besides the host Central Catholic, the tournament will feature E.D. White, South Lafourche, Franklin, St. Edmund, Catholic High-Pointe Coupee, Peabody and South Lafourche.
“I think it’s good competition all around,” Central Catholic coach David Fuhrer said.
The Central Catholic practice field will be split into two 40-yard fields for the tournament with games lasting 25 minutes apiece.
Action will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Central Catholic facing E.D. White on field 1, while at the same time, Patterson will face St. Edmund on field 2.
Other local action includes: Central Catholic vs. St. Edmund on field 1 at 9:30 a.m., Patterson vs. E.D. White, field 2 at 9:30 a.m.; Central Catholic vs. Patterson, field 1, 10:30 a.m.; Central Catholic vs. Peabody, field 1, 11:30 a.m.; Patterson vs. Catholic High-PC, field 2, 11:30 a.m.; Central Catholic vs. Catholic High-Pointe Coupee, field 1, 1:30 p.m.; Patterson vs. Peabody, field 2, 1:30 p.m.; Central Catholic vs. South Lafourche, 2:30 p.m., field 1; and Patterson vs. Franklin, 3 p.m., field 1.
Scoring for the tournament will consist of six points for a touchdown with teams having the option of going for a one-point conversion from the 5-yard line or a two-point conversion from the 10-yard line.
Also, teams will receive two points if their defense forces a turnover on downs, while they will receive three points if their defense records an interception.
