CCHS golf team advances to state

BATON ROUGE — The Central Catholic High School golf team qualified for the Division 4 state golf tournament following a fourth-place finish at the Division 4, Region 2 match at LSU’s golf course Monday.

The Eagles recorded a team score of 358.

Individually, Chaz Galloway led the Eagles with an 81, while Bennett Duffy shot an 86. Miles Scarborough fired a 94, Nick Bolner, a 97, and C.J. Laiche, a 99.

“Once again, Chaz Galloway performed up to expectations, playing very well and leading the team to a spot in the state tournament at Shreveport Golf and Country Club,” Central Catholic coach Joey Galloway said. “Bennett Duffy had a solid outing and continues to improve every day. Our youngest member, Miles Scarborough, showed resolve and maturity and played a great round of golf.”

Ascension Episcopal carded a 324 to win the regional match, while Westminster’s Jack Tolson shot a 71 to lead the field.

The Division 4 state tournament will be held April 29-30.
