Byrons place at photog competition

Two local photographers recently placed during the Professional Photographers of Louisiana Annual State Convention’s Photographic Competition in New Orleans.

Master Craftsman James W. Byron and his wife, Karla Byron, of Portrait Gallery Photography were recognized for their work.

J. Byron won five American Society of Photography Distinguished Ribbon Awards and two Judges Awards while competing in the Master’s Division.

Byron’s biggest award was a 1st Place finish in the Portrait Masters Division as well as the Fuji Masterpiece Award, presented for his image, titled, “The Audacity to Hope.”

The Fuji Masterpiece Award honors photographers who strive to create images of excellence and distinction. The award is given at annual print competitions held by affiliates of the Professional Photographers of America PPA.

K. Byron took home her second award for her portrait, titled, “Let’s See Who Blinks First.”

She won Best of Show during the Spring Convention with the same image.

The Byrons will compete in the Regional Photographic Competition later this year.
