Bryce Beaubouef qualifies for state
Patterson’s Bryce Beaubouef qualified for the Division 3 state golf tournament after firing an 83 during regional play Tuesday at Santa Maria Golf Club in Baton Rouge.
The freshman did well and made the cut despite overcoming some late adversity, according to Patterson golf coach Ryan Taylor.
“He had a triple bogey on (hole) 15 and a bad break on the green at 16 but was able to keep his composure and not let the round get away from him,” Taylor said. “He is gaining a lot of experience in his (freshman) year. He is getting better each competition.”
As a team, Patterson placed seventh after shooting a 395.
Other Patterson participants included Kenny Singleton, a 94; Bobby Abshire, a 102; and Trey Olwell, a 116.
University High won the regional, which consisted of qualifiers from Districts 3 and 4, after shooting a 306.
U-High’s Weldon Furr and Trey Winstead tied for the top spot after each fired a 73.
The Division 3 golf tournament will be played at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport Monday and Tuesday.
