MORGAN CITY, La. -- I am Mac R. Bruno and I am announcing my candidacy for councilman of District 5 for Morgan City.
I was born in Morgan City, the son of the late Sandra Bruno. My grandfather was the late Mack Rodger Bruno who was a boat captain for Tidewater for many years. My grandmother was the late Mary Beatrice Comeaux.
I have been married to Traci Anslem Bruno for 15 years. We have two wonderful children, Sheldon Anslem and Allexis Bruno. Sheldon is currently serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Bragg, N.C., and Allexis is a sophomore at Morgan City High School. We have a 19-month-old grandchild, Ziggy Joseph Anslem.
For nearly 17 years, I was employed with Teche Broadcasting Inc. (95.3FM KQKI). I am currently working at Courtesy Automotive in Morgan City as a sales consultant. I was a member of the Morgan City Police Department Reserves and was a member of the Morgan City Volunteer Fire Department. Therefore, I know the importance of working with our police and fire departments. I also know how important it is to visit with the citizens of Morgan City and know the real issues we face on a day-to-day basis.
An important responsibility of a councilman is to respond to the concerns of our citizens here in Morgan City and I vow to do just that. Morgan City needs councilmen that will not be afraid to communicate concerns to City Hall or speak out about improving the quality of life in Morgan City.
You deserve a councilman to be the “voice for the people.” Morgan City needs a councilman that will listen to issues we have in Morgan City. That’s why, if I am elected, I vow to make sure everyone has my phone number to personally get in touch with me if a problem should arise.
Some issues I plan on tackling, if elected, are to update City Hall to become more technology friendly. Citizens should be able to pay their electric bill online with the busy lifestyle people have today.
Also, Morgan City needs something more for our children to do. We need more recreational opportunities for our children. I also think the mayor and council should work closely with the Morgan City Police Department and our fire departments, give back to the men and women who protect our city, not take anything away.
Together, as citizens in a city we love, we can and will make a difference. I pray for your vote and support on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Elect a councilman who will work for the citizens of Morgan City — Mac R. Bruno for Councilman District 5, No. 62 on your ballot. Thank you and God bless.
