BRO. HAROLD SYDNEY
Brother Harold Sydney, a native of Centerville, was the fifth child of nine children born to the late Ottaway and Nevelyn Taylor Sidney on August 1, 1940. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Joseph Wells at New Providence Baptist Church in Centerville, La.
Brother Sydney married the former Carol Lewis on April 6, 1968. To this union, two children were born.
He was employed by Delta Airlines for 28 years and Jefferson Parish Sign Shop for 10 years. He was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church. He later moved to Franklin and joined the Greater New Hope Baptist Church.
Bro Sydney was called home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2012 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mourning his loss yet cherishing many wonderful memories are his wife, Carol Sydney; one daughter, Apryl and her husband, Harold Roussell Jr. of River Ridge, La.; one son, Harold Eric Sydney and his wife, Elsa, of Laplace; three grandchildren, Jasmin, Jordin and Eric; two brothers, James Ronald Sidney of Kenner and Leon (Evelyn) Sidney of Pittsburgh, California; two sisters, Joyce Marie Thomas of Kenner and Cynthia Weathers of Dallas, Texas; brothers-in-law, Willie Lewis, Otis Moore and Zack Batiste; sisters-in-law, Cora Charles, Helen Miles, Teresa (John) Wyatt, Idella, Pearl, Marilyn, Evelyn, Susie Lewis, Janell, Barbara and Lyndia Sidney; along with a wealth of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Eric, Henry, Allen, Clarence and Horace Sidney.
Viewing and visitation with the Sydney family will be Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Greater New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m.
