Brittany’s Project registering camp participants, sets movies
Registration is ongoing for a weeklong Brittany’s Special Friends Camp set July 8-12.
The camp will be held at Franklin Senior High School from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily.
All individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability, ages 5 and up are welcome to request an application from Elizabeth Longman at 337-519-5795. Limited spaces are available, and will be given on a first-come first-served basis. Registration deadline is June 25 and the entry fee is $25
The camp will offer a daily schedule of arts and crafts, special visitors from the fire department, the Sonic “Tator Tot,” a storyteller, special music and entertainment along with a fun educational science project and activities.
Also on slate are Mitch the Magician, a water fun day along with arts and crafts, fun and exciting science experiments, music, games and making their own snacks will all be offered each day.
Camp buddies and volunteers are needed from age 12 and older. Contact Kathy Barrilleaux at 337-828-1996, and request an application.

The Brittany’s Project Cruise-In for the Cause and Movie Night has also been set to begin June 22 at 5 p.m. at the site near the Oaklawn Bridge. The first movie will be “Fast and Furious” and participants are urged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, dress for the weather and have mosquito control products. Refreshments will be sold and there will be a $5 ice chest charge.
