Bordelon Memorial Day remembrance

In observance of Memorial Day, an American flag was placed at the memorial marker for 1st Sgt. Michael Bordelon who was killed May 10, 2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On Arbor Day 2006, a Sawtooth Oak was planted in his memory on the grounds of Claire House on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista. Bordelon served with the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), from Fort Lewis, Wash. The marker and tree were provided by the Bayou Vista Garden Club to serve as a reminder of his sacrifice and gift of freedom. Bordelon is the son of Bruce and Dolores Bordelon of Bayou Vista.
