Blue light special

The annual Red Ribbon Week observance kicked off this week with a bang — actually a lot of sirens and horns. A motorcade of emergency response vehicles of all types paraded through the parish Saturday with units blaring the message of a safe and drug-free lifestyle for all to hear. The motorcade began in Amelia, winding its route through the parish along La. 182 to Baldwin before concluding in Charenton. This year’s observance began Friday and will continue through Sunday. Highlights along the way include the Parents/Grandparents Summit at the Patterson Area Civic Center Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and the Parade of Schools followed by the Zoo to Boo Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Morgan City.
