Blanchard-Anderson exchange vows in Lafayette

Katie Elaine Blanchard and Carl Michael Anderson were married Nov. 24, 2012, in a 1:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony at The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette. Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Lonnie and Susan Blanchard of Berwick. The groom is the son of Cindy B. and Samuel Viola of Bayou Vista and Carl J. Anderson of Franklin.

For the occasion, church pews were adorned with ivory hydrangeas and roses tied with ivory ribbon.

Music was by soloist Abbie R. Paradee, organist Tom Niel and violinist Emil Ivanov.

Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of hand-beaded and embroidered tulle designed with floral accents. The sweetheart neckline and elongated bodice were enhanced by a circular skirt and chapel train.

Her cathedral-length veil was adorned with crystal and pearl clusters.

She carried a bouquet of ivory roses and hydrangeas with an ivory-satin ribbon stem wrap adorned by a pearl and Swarovski crystal brooch. A special edition to the bouquet was a golden rosary that belonged to the late Anna Marie Viola Buonopane, great-grandmother of the groom.

Alyssa M. Balli was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Courtney A. Russo, Catherine L. Loupe, Katlin B. Daigle and Colleen M. Beattie. Rachel A. Viola, sister of the groom, was junior bridesmaid.

The bridal attendants were attired in A-line gowns of midnight blue chiffon featuring a cross-over, draped neckline, a natural waist and open back.

They carried bouquets of blush roses, and ivory hydrangeas and anemones finished with midnight blue ribbon.

Elyse Victoria Hardy and Ansley Renee Hardy were flower girls. They carried ivory satin baskets filled with ivory and blush sweetheart roses. Complimenting each basket was a crystal brooch.

Grant Garber was best man. Groomsmen were Luke Guillot; Ryan Blanchard, brother of the bride; Derek Kleles; Ryan Adams; and Samuel Viola, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Van E. Clements IV, Timothy Hayles, Dylan Bergeron and Casey Roy.

A reception followed at Abacus in Lafayette.

The wedding cake was a four-tiered confection with buttercream icing decorated with fleur de lis and pearl designs. The groom’s chocolate cake was fleur de lis-shaped with almond buttercream icing.

Tables were decorated with hydrangeas, ivory roses, anemones, ivory candelabra, glass votives and lanterns.

Serving cake was Rebecca Trahan, godmother of the bride.

Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner at Blue Dog Café in Lafayette was hosted by the parents of the bride and groom.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Berwick High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in general studies in 2011 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

The groom is a 2008 graduate of Berwick High and earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology in 2012 from ULL. He is employed with Offshore Energy Services in Lafayette.

They honeymooned in Nassau, Bahamas, and reside in Lafayette.
