Black bear research updates
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the University of Tennessee plan public meetings next week focusing on research into black bear populations. The meeting in St. Mary Parish will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the courthouse in Franklin. The Aug. 5 meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Pointe Coupee Communication Center in Morganza. Tennessee graduate students will present an update on population research including estimates and density of bears in the area.
