BILLY JACK CAIN
New Iberia — Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Franklin Cemetery for Billy Jack Cain, 82, of New Iberia who died May 15, ’2012 from complications of liver cancer.
Mr. Cain was born in Kaufman County, Texas on February 9, 1930 to Emzie Jackson and Elizabeth Carey Cain. He was a Korean War combat veteran, having retired from the United States Marine Corps, and was a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he majored in public relations and advertising. Mr. Cain was employed by the Mid-City Daily News in Hurst, Texas before moving to Franklin, Louisiana as editor-publisher of the Franklin Banner-Tribune. His business interests included various cafes and bars in Texas and Louisiana. Having a great sense of humor and being a good story teller, Mr. Cain enjoyed making new friends and was always ready to lend a hand. His interests were reading, photography and old cars.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Bouton Cain; son, Matthew “Matt” Cain; daughters, Damion “Dee Dee” Cain Guillory and Scarlett Cain Landry; stepson, Danny Boudoin; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sumiko Cain; son, Anthony “Tony” Cain; and sister, Jo Alice Brewer of Arlington, Texas.
