BHPA holds MDA fall fundraiser

The Fall Muscular Dystrophy Horseshoe Tournament fundraiser, sponsored by the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association, was held Saturday at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.
The event, sponsored by the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association, featured Class A, B, C and D winners.
Sharla Fontenot of Lacassine won the Class A division with a 5-0 mark and a 45.5 ringer percentage, while Ricky Richard of Church Point and Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista finished second and third, respectively, in the division. Richard recorded a 4-1 mark and a ringer percentage of 51 percent, while Gilmore finished 3-2 and netted a ringer percentage of 56.
In Class B, Kevin Doré Sr. of Patterson was tops with a 5-1 record and a 34.2 ringer percentage, while Tanner Pousson of Lacassine was second with a 4-3 mark and a 33.3 ringer percentage. Doré defeated Pousson in a 40-shoe playoff game after both were tied in regulation.
O.J. Cole of Centerville finished third in Class B with a 2-3 mark and a 30.5 ringer percentage.
In Class C, Jimmy Percle of Morgan City won the division with a 4½-½ mark and a 27.5 ringer percentage, while Tim Hayles of Berwick was second with a 2½-2½ mark and a 26.5 ringer percentage. Milton Pearce of Houma finished third with a 2-3 mark and a 21.5 ringer percentage.
In Class D, Kevin Doré Jr. of Patterson won the division with a 5-0 mark. He recorded a ringer percentage of 27 percent. Clay Canty of Morgan City was second with a 3-2 mark and ringer percentage of 28 percent, while Vernet Dupuy of Bayou Vista was third with a 3-2 mark and a ringer percent of 17 percent.
In addition to hosting the tournament, BHPA has presented BHPA spokesman and honorary member Ross Arcemont with a check for $1,410 from the Spring and Fall fundraisers to be presented to the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Labor Day. Arcemont is afflicted with the dreaded disease.
