Berwick wins, will play today

The Berwick Lady Panthers picked up a 15-0 District 9-3A victory against the Franklin Lady Hornets at home on Wednesday.
No individual statistics were available.
With the win, the squad improves to 13-12 overall and 6-5 in District 9-3A action.
The Lady Panthers will close out District 9-3A play today against Abbeville High at home with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
While Berwick will play, they possibly could be the only area team to hit the field today as overnight showers saturated the area.
At Morgan City High, coach Marc Gonzales said today’s game against Ellender Memorial will be played on Saturday with junior varsity set for 10 a.m. and varsity to follow at noon
In Berwick, the Panthers’ game against Vandebilt Catholic in Houma has been cancelled due to the weather.
In Patterson, the ’Jacks game today against Abbeville has been moved to Monday at 5:30 p.m., while the Lumberjills’ scheduled 4 p.m. game against Franklin has been moved to Monday at 3:30 p.m.
In Morgan City, the Lady Tigers’ home softball game today against Assumption has been moved to Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Central Catholic Eagles’ District 8-1A baseball game against Hanson Memorial, originally scheduled for this past Monday in Franklin but was rained out, also has been rescheduled for Wednesday in Franklin. The game will be played at 6 p.m.
The rescheduling, however, meant that a non-district matchup at Nicholls State in Thibodaux between CCHS coach Tyler Jensen and his brother, PHS coach Ryan Jensen, which was set for Wednesday, must be cancelled. R. Jensen said he still is looking for a replacement to play that day.
Also, at CCHS, the Lady Eagles’ softball matchup against Gueydan, originally scheduled for this past Monday in Bayou Vista before the rain cancelled it, has been rescheduled for Monday in Bayou Vista at 1 p.m. This past Wednesday’s game against Hanson, which was rained out, now will be played on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Franklin.
