Berwick man arrested for stealing air conditioner radiators from hotel

BERWICK, La. -- A 51-year-old Berwick man was arrested Monday for stealing items from a hotel and selling them at a scrap yard, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said.

—Michael Credeur, 51, of the 800 block of Utah Street, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Monday for theft. Deputies received a report from a hotel in the Bayou Vista area where some air conditioner radiators had been stolen. Deputies had learned that Credeur had been taking the items and selling them at a scrap yard over the past few months, Hebert said. Credeur was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set at this time.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Randy Hatcher, 34, of the 600 block of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:39 a.m. today at the parish jail for failure to appear for drug court for possession of marijuana third offense. He was taken to the parish jail and held with bail set at $100,000.

—Jeremy Voisin, 26, of the 200 block of Vivian Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. today, on two counts of failure to appear on warrants for drug court. He was arrested in the 1400 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City. Voisin was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $200,000.

—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 19, of the 500 block of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:24 p.m. Thursday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court (contempt of court). A deputy received information regarding the whereabouts of Klenert and located him on Clothilde Street in Morgan City. He remains jailed in the parish jail with bail set at $200,000.

—Jill Parker, 39, of the 800 block of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for telephone harassment. Parker turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bail is set.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Edward Washington, 53, of Solar Apartments in Morgan City, and Veronica Lynch, 38, of Southeast Boulevard in Morgan City, were arrested at 11:44 p.m. Monday. Washington was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lynch was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police were dispatched to Solar Apartments in regard to a caller advising of illegal drug use activity going on in one of the apartments.

Upon making contact with the male at the apartment, officers observed the female sitting on the bed and she was holding what appeared to be a glass pipe commonly used to smoke narcotics in her hand, Crouch said. Upon the female seeing the officers she attempted to hide the object from the officer’s view.

At that time, she was detained and the item was recovered and seized for evidence. Both were searched, and officers located a white rock-like substance that they believed to be crack cocaine on Washington. The item was seized for evidence, Crouch said. The officers learned that Lynch showed up at Washington’s apartment, and Washington left the apartment coming back with suspected cocaine with the intent of smoking it together, Crouch said. Both were taken to the police department, and are being held with no bail set at this time.

—Ruben Matamoros, 18, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. today for DWI first offense, improper lane usage and no driver’s license. While on patrol, officers observed a vehicle traveling west bound on La. 182 that was swerving all over the roadway.

As the officer was following the vehicle the officer observed the vehicle make a right hand turn but was traveling in the opposite lane. At that time a traffic stop was conducted. Officers detected a strong odor of what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage on Matamoros breath and he swayed as he stood, Crouch said. Matamoros advised officers that he did not have a valid driver’s license. Matamoros submitted to a sobriety test, which he did poorly on, Crouch said. Matamoros was taken to the police department where he was given a chemical intoxication test, which yielded a result of .292 grams percent. Matamoros was taken to jail and is still being held with no bail set at this time.

—Francisco Gonzales, 38, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace. Police were dispatched to Roderick Street in regard to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke with witnesses at which time they advised that Gonzales was involved in a disturbance with a female.

Witnesses advised officers that during the disturbance they observed Gonzales hitting a female at which time they intervened in the fight, Crouch said. During this time, the female left the area on foot. Investigating officers attempted to locate female victim, but they were unable to locate her, Crouch said. Gonzales was taken to the police department and released on cash bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
