Trio of area teams make playoffs

Morgan City, Berwick and Central Catholic all qualified for high school softball postseason play. Berwick, the No. 25 seed in Class 3A, will travel to face No. 8 seed Pine Prairie Saturday in a 6 p.m. contest. Meanwhile, Morgan City, Class 4A’s No. 13 seed, will host No. 20 Assumption Monday at 5 p.m., while Central Catholic, Class 1A’s No. 12 seed, will host No. 21 Ascension Christian in a 5 p.m. contest Monday. Berwick upset 5A's top team, Lafayette High

The Berwick High School baseball team scored a huge upset Tuesday as it defeated Class 5A’s top-ranked team, Lafayette High, 5-4, in nondistrict action in Lafayette.
