Bergeron-Junius wed at St. Louis Cathedral

St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans was the setting April 2 when Sarah Elizabeth Bergeron and Nathan John Junius were united in holy matrimony. The Very Rev. Jay L. Baker officiated the 7 p.m. nuptials.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blair Camille Bergeron of Morgan City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph William Junius Jr. of New Orleans.

The cathedral was enhanced by two large traditional arrangements of all white hydrangeas, Siberia lilies, Vendula and Avalanche roses, and larkspur.

Music was by harpist Rachel Van Voorhees, organist Michele Starnes, trumpeter Vance Woolf and vocalists Seth Board and Mark J. Baur.

Altar boy was Michael Anthony Hill, nephew of the bride.

Readers were Kathleen B. McNulty, Jorinda J. Rogers and John Perrone Jr.

Giftbearers were Jennifer A. Resignola, Catherine M. Arceneaux, Jennifer A. Morella and Leo A. Schott.

Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a silk, strapless gown fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, a drop waist and full ballgown skirt. The fitted bodice was embellished with beads and embroidery. Her cathedral-length veil was edged with folded satin ribbon.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white peonies with touches of soft pink, white Majolica spray roses and blush pink Anna roses. The stem wrap was double-faced ivory satin ribbon with a pearl button enclosure.

Lori Josephine Case was her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a halter-top gown of teal satin with a twist-knot detail on the draped empire bodice.

Bridesmaids were Cheri N. Kyle, Lindsey M. Stephens, Heather J. Mayfield, Dr. Sacha J. Wax, Jennifer L. Keller, Angel M. Junius and Petra J. Guste.

Bridal attendants carried magenta crystal Gem calla lilies with hot magenta dendrobium orchids, golden yellow Conga roses and citrus green Fuji chrysanthemums with handles wrapped with sheer hot pink ribbon.

They each wore a one-shoulder gown of teal satin with a twist-knot detail on the draped empire bodice.

Flower girls were Gianna Case, Lilian Mayfield, Cecille Guste, Juliet Wax, Sophie Junius and Stella Junius, nieces of the bride and groom.

They each wore a ballerina-inspired dress in sweet pink designed with thin straps, a full skirt of layered tulle with a soft grosgrain bow and ivory flower adorning the waist.

Ringbearers were Dominic Case, Benjamin Case, Michael Anthony Hill, Sean Mayfield, Hunter Mayfield, Henry Guste, R. William Junius IV and Jackson Junius, nephews of the bride and groom.

Dr. R. William Junius III was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Mark C. Bergeron, brother of the bride, Dr. Terrence C. Forstall Jr., Dr. Sean Mayfield Sr., Dr. Barton Wax, Richard Sander, Paul Chauffe II and Henry M. Guste.

Ushers were Ronald Case, Daniel Becnel, Mark Baur and Paul Baur.

A reception followed at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters at the New Orleans Botanical Garden.

The bride’s cake was a four-tiered confection covered in rolled fondant icing with silver dragees, teal ribbon and a rhinestone brooch. Topping the cake was a large rhinestone initial surrounded by hydrangeas and white spray roses. The confection was set atop a silver plateau surrounded by hydrangeas, white spray roses and candles.

The groom’s double-layered vanilla cake held fudge filling and chocolate buttercream icing depicted a camouflage hunting scene with a fondant Labrador Retriever holding a duck figurine.

Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Antoine’s Restaurant in New Orleans.

Prenuptial parties included a Mexican fiesta hosted by the groom’s parents, a luau party hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Perrone Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baur, a rock and bowl party hosted by groomsmen and ushers, bridesmaids hosted a Ralph’s on the Park brunch and a bachelorette party, and the bride’s aunts and grandmothers hosted a bridal luncheon at the Idlewild at Atchafalaya Club House.

The bride graduated Morgan City High School and Nicholls State University in Thibodaux with a bachelor’s degree in Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design. She is an administrative assistant with Soldevila & Associates.

The groom graduated Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Tulane University in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and the University of Texas with a master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He is a civil engineer with Linfield, Hunter & Junius Associates.

They honeymooned in the Fiji Islands and reside in New Orleans.
