Belleview Golf holds 2-Man Tourney

The Belleview Golf and Country club recently played host to its First Annual 27 hole 2-Man tournament.

The tournament was sponsored by the clubs Members Golf Association who are represented by Dale Rogers, chairman, Doug Fredrick, vice chairman, Al Kuhlman, treasurer and members Ruthie Heard, Herman Hamilton, Murphy Pontiff and Bobby McDonald.

The proceeds from the tournament will be used to continue the upgrade and beautification of the course. It featured a unique format that included nine holes of scramble, nine holes of best ball and the final nine holes of alternating shot. The tournament included a field of 32 two-man teams and provided plenty of great golf and friendly atmosphere.

Serving as chairman of the tournament was former Sheriff David Naquin and he was assisted by city councilman Dale Rogers.

Prizes were awarded to three teams in three different flights depending on the playing ability of the individual teams. Teams that were awarded prizes were:

1st Flight: 1st Place: Mike Kapp and David Levingston -12; 2nd Place: Clegg Caffery and Paul Hensley Sr. -7; and 3rd Place: Donnie Stiel and Paul Hensley Jr. -5.

2nd Flight: 1st Place: Brandon Burdett and Darrell Johnson +4; 2nd Place: Chuck Walters and Gregg Millet +5; and 3rd Place: Nick LeJeune and Mark Amy +6

3rd Flight: 1st Place: Jules Hebert and Mickey Michel +15; 2nd Place: Terry Nolan and Tommy Rachel +16; and 3rd Place: Kelly Louviere and Brad Frederick +17.

Prizes were also awarded to Mike Kapp for the closest to hole on the par 3 number 6 with a shot of 14 inches and Paul Hensley Jr. for the closest to the hole on the par 3 number 8 with a shot of 4 feet 4 inches. Paul also won the longest drive contest for the men, while Lacy Louviere won the long drive for the women. The only all woman team of Ruthie Heard and Karlene Nolan shot the highest score for the day and won two gift certificates to Mr. Lester’s Steak House that were donated by Cypress Bayou Casino.

The next tournament on the schedule will be the 3rd Annual Belleview 3 Man Scramble which is scheduled for June the 8th. There will be a morning and afternoon grouping, so get your teams together and come out and have a great day. The pool will be open and there will once again be live entertainment in the evening.
