Bayou Vista man arrested for disturbance
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrest:
—Christopher Francis Early, 32, of Universe Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:43 a.m. today for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the residence. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Early and noticed the strong odor of alcohol on him, the report stated. During the investigation, the deputy also observed Early screaming from his driveway. Early was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrest:
—Clint M. Gates, 23, of Perkingston, Miss., was arrested at 11:59 p.m. Monday on charges for felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated third offense, hit and run driving, careless operation, resisting an officer and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.
Gates struck and broke a utility pole at Roderick and La. 182. Gates’ vehicle was heavily damaged but he tried to drive away from the scene. A passing off-duty Morgan City police officer observed this and attempted to detain the driver and called the police department. Gates became non-compliant and, as on-duty officers arrived, Gates fled on foot to a nearby apartment complex where a foot chase took place during which the suspect was taken into custody, the report stated. Gates had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and showed signs of being intoxicated. Gates refused all forms of DWI testing and was charged automatically under state law. No bail has been set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
