Baldwin Mardi Gras parade set for Feb. 9
The Town of Baldwin’s 13th annual Mardi Gras parade will roll Saturday, Feb. 9 at noon.
This year’s grand marshal is state Rep. Sam Jones, D-Franklin.

The parade route begins at Sager Brown Road, proceeds down Main Street to the red light and turns left on Martin Luther King Street and then makes a right on Bollard Street ending on Sunset Street.
Entry categories are as follows: float $40; cars/trucks $30; motor bikes $15; walkers (individuals) $10; organization walkers $20 and bands are allowed at no charge. Make checks payable to cash.
Parade rules are:
—No barbecue pits or open flames allowed on floats, cars, trucks or trailers.
—Must have an adequate amount of throws for your float
—Floats carrying minors must have adults supervising and riding on float.
—Drivers are not allowed to consume alcohol.
—All entries must conform to theme of parade or be decorated with Mardi Gras decorations.
—Must be at line-up location at least 1½ hours before parade time.
—Any float or entry not following rules will be asked to leave immediately, with no refund.
—Refrain from playing music containing profanity, violence or any other inappropriate, foul or obscene language.
—No nudity, keep dress and conduct appropriate for family oriented atmosphere.
—No dogs or glass containers on floats, cars, trucks or trailers.
—No bottles or hard and/or large objects shall be thrown from parade entries.
—If generators are on floats, a fire extinguisher shall be in full view.
—Side rails or other protection shall be provided if float riders are standing.
