Arrests made on Texas, EBR warrants
Area residents were arrested on warrants for other jurisdictions Thursday.
Darius Brown, 33, of Patterson was charged at 10:52 a.m. with a warrant out of Beaumont, Texas, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
After being stopped on Park Street in Patterson, he additionally was charged locally with driving under suspension, Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
Brown remained incarcerated this morning while awaiting extradition to Texas.
Elsewhere, Timothy Venable, 43, of Oak Harbor Drive in Morgan City was arrested Thursday at 11:57 a.m. on a warrant for East Baton Rouge Parish for theft.
Venable turned himself in to the Morgan City Sheriff’s Office. Venable was booked into the parish jail awaiting transfer to the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail.
Elsewhere, Brandon J. Halfen, 18, of Mount Street in Berwick was arrested on Thursday at 1:47 p.m. for theft by shoplifting.
Bayou Vista Wal-Mart store security called deputies after Halfen was seen drinking an energy drink and taking an iPhone case. The value of items taken was $28.82, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
Halfen was issued a summons to appear in court.
