Alexis Rack named to SEC Women’s Legends Class of 2013

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Former Mississippi State standout basketball player Alexis Rack has been named to the Southeastern Conference’s 2013 Class of Women’s Legends, the league office announced Thursday.

Rack will be honored at halftime of the Bulldogs’ opening SEC Tournament game in Duluth, Ga. (March 6-10). The entire class will be recognized at the half of the tournament’s first semifinal game and participate in an autograph session between the contests.

Rack led Mississippi State to the postseason all four years of her career. As a junior, she helped the Bulldogs to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In her final season wearing the Maroon & White, she was part of the most-historic season in school history as the team upset No. 8-seed Ohio State to claim the program’s first Sweet 16 appearance.

The Franklin, La., native was named a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American as a senior. She garnered first-team All-SEC accolades from the league coaches and second-team honors from the Associated Press her final two seasons.

Rack, who played from 2007-2010, was awarded the Gillom Trophy as Mississippi’s top college player her final two years, the first player to earn the award in back-to-back seasons.

Rack is the third-leading scorer in school history, finishing her career with 1,756 points. She holds the school’s career record for 3-point field goals made with 340.

She set MSU’s single-season 3-point record with 86 made baskets as a junior before eclipsing the mark with 108 the following year.

Rack went on to be drafted 29th by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the 2010 WNBA Draft.
