5K4Food winners

Nearly 500 runners took part in the first annual 5K run for Uganda sponsored by the Crossing Place Fellowship March 10. The 3.2-mile course began at Raintree Market on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway in Baldwin and ended at the Bridge Ministry Center in Charenton. The runners were treated to jambalaya from a cook-off of battling chefs from the Crossing Place campuses in Franklin, Kaplan and Morgan City. All funds generated by the race went to help fund the Agape Orphanage which is overseen by Franklin native Canita Brent. Early estimate was that about $15,000 will go to Uganda. Men’s winner was David Theriot of M.C. with a 19:52 time and first female was Jeri St. Blanc of Charenton with a time of 23:14. (Submitted Photos by Gary Garrison)
