4 arrested on drug charges after traffic stop, residential search

Four people were arrested by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics division detectives after detectives made a traffic stop in Berwick and then continued the investigation at a residence in Bayou Vista, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
—Cherri Pennison, 37, of La. 182 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1 a.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, distribution of marijuana, possession of schedule III (Sebutex), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Jeffrey Scott Lambert, 38, of La. 182 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Glenn Rankins, 49, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:28 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana.
—Nathaniel Rankins, 63, of Neptune Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:28 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana.
Narcotics division detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed driving left of center on La. 182 in Berwick. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Nathaniel Rankins, and the passenger, identified as Glenn Rankins.
During the investigation, detectives located marijuana on Nathaniel Rankins and Glenn Rankins, the report stated. Detectives continued the investigation on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. Once there, detectives made contact with Pennison and Lambert. Detectives located marijuana, rolling papers, and Sebutex pills, the report stated. Glenn Rankins, Nathaniel Rankins, and Lambert were released on summonses to appear in court. Pennison was taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and held. No bail is set.
Patterson police arrested the following:
—Anthony Bergeron, 32, of Harding Drive in Houma, was arrested at 10:33 p.m. on Feb. 28 for speeding and careless operation. Bergeron paid a fine and was released.
—Jeffery Leon, 43, of Donna Drive in Franklin, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Friday for DWI first offense and suspended driver’s license. Leon was released on bail.
—Kirk Butler-Pollard, 20, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested Saturday for simple criminal damage and simple burglary. He was taken to jail and is still being held.
—Christopher Freeman, 26, of South Sibley Street in Metairie, was arrested Friday for driver’s license revoked. Freeman was released on paid fines.
—Alaina Frederick, 30, of Morrison Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. Friday for simple criminal damage to property, introduction of contraband into a penal institution and possession of a narcotic without a prescription. Frederick was transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
—Michael Lancon, 42, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 9:58 a.m. Saturday for simple battery domestic. Lancon was released on bail.
—David Butler, 39, of El Wood Street in Houma, was arrested at 11:08 a.m. Saturday for driver’s license revoked and speeding. Butler was released on paid fines.
—Dontrell D. Williams, 19, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. Monday on city warrants and pending charges. Williams is still being held.
—Shiela Gallon, 27, of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Patterson, was arrested for criminal damage to property and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Gallon was released on bail.
—Jorge Cosenza, 24, of Dialita Drive in Avondale, was arrested at 1:06 a.m. Tuesday for speeding and driving under suspension. Cosenza paid the fine in full and was released.
—Yvette Vilo, 54, of Washington Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:07 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Vilo is still being held.
—Robert Whiseant, 52, of U.S. 90 in Patterson, was arrested at 6:23 a.m. Thursday for suspended driver’s license and headlight required. Whiseant paid the fine and was released.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
