30th annual Foster/Perry Relays set today at Franklin High

Eight girls and boys teams are set to compete in the 30th annual Foster/Perry Relays today at the Coach Albert Perry Track at the J. C. Dry Stadium.

Teams from Opelousas High School, Jeanerette High School, West St. Mary High School, Hanson Memorial High School, Centerville High School, Patterson High School, Morgan City High School and host Franklin Senior High School will compete in the annual boys and girls outdoor track and field competition.

Highlighting today’s events in the 30th annual Foster/Perry Relays will be the field events, girls 3200, a special presentation, running events, Big Man Relay races and the Big Man 100.

Action starts today at 3 p.m. with the field events. At 3:30 p.m., the girls 3200 meter race with be ran. A special presentation will take place at 5 p.m. with the running events set to start at 5:30 p.m.

Headlining today’s 30th annual Foster/Perry Relays will be the Opelousas Tigers along with host Franklin Senior High School.

Opelousas comes to Franklin after turning in strong outings in jumping events from both the boys and girls teams.

Franklin Senior High School looks to improve on a pair of top finishes over the past two weeks. The Franklin Senior High School won the Catholic High Relays which was the first outdoor meet of the year back on March 1 in Abbeville. Last week Franklin Senior High School turned in a second place finish in at the New Iberia Senior High School Meet a feat the FSHS Hornets hope to improve on this week at the 30th annual Foster Perry Relays.

Shot putter Cedric Paul will join jumper Brennan Robinson in spearheading the Hornets balanced attack in landing key points in the field event. On the track, the Hornets will pin their hopes on sprinters Damien Williams, Trey Rouchon and Mark Ruffin.

The Opelousas Lady Tigers will send a strong contingent of field and track competitors to the 30th annual Foster/Perry Relays while the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack boasts excellent field persons in Gerianna Lyons and Amber Joe along with sprinter Rhayla Marks.

The Franklin Lady Hornets will showcase the talented racing skills of home town favorites Angelica Blanks, Wyneshia Jenkins, Iman Key, Robyn Rollins, Fabian Small, Zharia Brown and Destinee Rice.

The 30th annual Foster/Perry Relays will be held today at the Coach Albert Perry Track at the J. C. Dry Stadium.
