2 sought in stick-up attempt, shooting

Two persons of interest, who may have information regarding a shooting and attempted armed robbery that occurred June 14, are being sought by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s detectives investigating the shooting, according to a news release from Sheriff Mark Hebert.

The shooting occurred outside of a lounge on La. 182 in Amelia near the Greenwood overpass. Around 2 a.m. Wednesday, three black males approached the victim, a Hispanic male, and attempted to rob him, the release stated.

During the robbery attempt, the victim was shot and was transported to a local hospital.

He was later transported to another medical facility where he remains in fair condition, the release stated.

Investigators have identified two persons of interest whom they believe may have information regarding this crime. One is described as a black male with a medium build, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height, age 23 to 25 years old with a dark complexion, and black hair styled with short twists. He goes by the nickname “Diddy,” the release stated.

The second is a black male with a medium build, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, age 19 to 20 years old and goes by the nickname “Jay.”
