‘Karate Kid’ is first in summer movie series
The first movie in the Movies in the Park Summer Movie Series will be “The Karate Kid” starring Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson.
Broussard-Harris Park will open at 7:15 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk on July 4.
Moviegoers are allowed to bring blankets and chairs to sit on; however, no ice chests or alcohol will be allowed in the park. Additionally, the only animals allowed in the parks are service animals for the disabled.
There is still time for organizations, churches, schools and local chapters of national organizations to become vendors for the summer movie series. The City of Franklin is looking for nine vendors to sell soft drinks and water, popcorn or chips and candy — three different vendors for each event. The vendors will not be repeated during the summer movie series. The vendors will be chosen on a first-come-first-served basis.
